Originally served in the Dental Center at Lowry Field in Colorado, was reassigned late in 1944 as a replacement in the 45th Infantry Division, then serving in Europe. Following Infantry Training at Camp Livingston in Louisiana, he arrived in Germany in April 1945. Saw combat from the Battle of Nuremberg through the liberation of Munich. He was in the first group to enter the Luftwaffe Headquarters. He was scheduled for retraining for the invasion of Japan, but was reassigned to the Signal Corps after the Japanese surrender. Discharged in November 1945.
