Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army. Volunteered as a Captain in February 1943. Sent to the South Pacific as a construction engineer. January 1945, sent to Headquarters, Island Command in the Ryukyus as a Major. June, commanded expansion of Ie Shima airfields, awarded the Bronze Star. At the close of the war, Chief Engineer of the 10th Army in Okinawa.
