Employed at Camp Humphries, Virginia and later in the supply department at Dahlgren Naval Weapons Laboratory. He was drafted into service and served with the military police in Elizabeth, New Jersey. After discharge, he was employed as a chemical engineer with the Dahlgren Naval Weapons Laboratory and later transferred to the Army Department at Aberdeen from where he retired at age 65. At Aberdeen he worked with high explosives.
