Self
Trained with the Army Reserves at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland in 1934. In 1941, he was deferred from military service and sent to Providence, Rhode Island to match shades on textiles for military services. During WWII, he accomplished matching an olive drab shade on parachute strap using three solvent soluble dyes on the first try. It was tradition in the industry that if the colorist had the right dyes and was an expert shade matcher he could probably do that in three tries.
