Stationed on the Island of Luzon with Company L of the 27th Infantry Regiment, Wolfhounds, 25th Infantry Division, Tropic Lightning. He participated in the campaign for the Philippines. On Luzon he received the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Battle Star for combat service. Awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with Bronze Star, WWII Victory Medal with Japan Clasp and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon.
