Served in the 1st Armored Division, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia; Fort Knox, Kentucky; Fort Dix, New Jersey. Sent to Northern Ireland, Liverpool, England and to the invasion of North Africa. Served as a Forward Observer for the artillery. Awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with five bronze stars per WD 3 GO 45, American Defense Service medal and Bronze Star medal per GO 21; Headquarters, 1st Armored Division, March 1944.
