Served in the 8th Army Air Force with the 447th Bomb Group, 710th Squadron. Engineer top turret gunner on a B-17 flying fortress. Completed 35 missions over Europe. 1st mission was Berlin 5/18/44 and last mission was Belfort 8/11/44. Received the Distinguished Flying Cross, 5 Air Medals, European Theater Medal, Presidential Unit Citation and the Sharpshooter Badge. Taught aircraft instruments in Chanute Field, Illinois. Helped develop the first training manual for jet mechanics school.
