The U.S. Army Ordnance Corps, 20th Corps under General Patton's Third Army. Entered military service in early 1942 with first duty assignment at the Desert Training Center, Indio, California. Moved to England with his unit and then onto Normandy Peninsula through France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Austria. Received many decorations, including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and the French Croix de Guerre.
