Member of the 8th Fighter Squadron, 49th Fighter Group. He was an airplane mechanic stationed in the South Pacific. Wounded twice and received the Purple Heart. Served in New Guinea, Northern Solomon Islands, Luzon and the South Philippines. Awarded the WWII Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with Silver Battle Star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Battle Star.
