Served in the First Marine Division's Invasion of Okinawa on April 1,1945. During action against Japanese forces on Okinawa, Ryukyus Islands, on May 10, 1945, risked his life to carry another Marine 200 yards through shellfire to safety. Awarded Silver Star posthumously. Killed in action on May 18, 1945.
