Activity During WWII

Served in the Indiana National Guard, activated January 1941. Served in the states, 823rd Tank Destroyer Battalion. Traveled 14 days on troop ship The Sea Porpoise; landed in England. D-Day plus 4 on Omaha Beach, France. Participated in the Battle of St. Lo where German communication center was located; miles and miles of wire were in a big cave. Battle of the Bulge. Met the Russians on the Elbe River. 823rd Tank Destroyer Battalion attached to the 30th Division of the 9th Army.
