Activity During WWII

Enlisted September 21, 1943. Basic Training at Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, California. Shipped out of San Diego Harbor on January 13, 1944. First maneuver at Rio and Manur Islands, Marshall Group; lasted 17 days. Participated in the Invasion of Saipan, June 15, 1944 to July 9, 1944; Tinian, prepared air strip with the 21st Battalion for planes to arrive and evacuate the wounded. B-29 aircraft landed on the world's largest air strip. Served in the Construction Battalion, re-designated to 3rd Battalion, 20th Regiment, 4th Marine Division. Discharged December 28, 1945.
