Was in the 215th Army Air Forces; flew bombing missions over Europe as a bombardier. shot down over Italy. flew 29 combat missions (160 combat hours). Organized schedules, supervised activities of 70 men. Received the Purple Heart, European-African-Middle Eastern with nine Bronze Stars, Air Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Distinguished Flying Cross. Awarded France's Highest Medal of Honor for bravery. Enlisted June 18, 1942; left service on December 25, 1945.
