Served December 29, 1942 to November 29, 1945. Participated in the battles and campaigns of the Aleutian Islands, Philippine Islands, Ryukyus, Western Pacific, Leyte and Okinawa. Awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal with Bronze Star, Service Arrowhead, Philippines Liberation Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars. Wounded in Leyte; had to petition to get his Purple Heart. Carried shrapnel in leg until his death.
