Activity During WWII

Crew member at commissioning of the flagship the USS Marathon APA-200. Transferred to flag commander's staff as radioman in the Okinawa campaign. Survived torpedo attack July 22, 1945 at Buckner Bay. Transferred with Flag Staff Commander to the flagship the USS Rockbridge APA-228. Was at Tokyo Bay for Japan's surrender as part of Japan Occupational Forces.
