Left for Boot Camp May 25, 1945, the night he graduated from high school. Completed Combat Air Crew Boot Camp at Memphis, Tennessee and Aviation Radioman's School at Naval Air Technical Training Center, Memphis. Entered Aerial Gunnery School at Yellow Water, Florida but war ended and the school was closed. Was sent to Atlantic City, New Jersey to deactivate the air station and was discharged from there.
