Served in the 3rd Infantry Division, a replacement for a Colmar Pocket casualty. Crossed from England to France, March 1945. Took Utweiler, Zweibrucken, fought through the Siegfried line, took Kaiserslautern. Crossed the Rhine at Worms in an 8-man outboard motorboat under enemy fire at dawn. Fought at Bamberg, Nuremberg and Augsburg, Austria to war's end in May 1945.
