Activity During WWII

Served aboard the USS Greene DD-266 in the Atlantic and North Atlantic. Escorted CVE aircraft, protected large convoys. Participated in the invasion of Southern France. Served on the USS Greene APD-36. Went to the Pacific War Theater in escort duty. On the picket lines around Okinawa during the invasion. The Greene was in the Great Typhoon. Ship was blown into a small island and later demolished. Captain was J. Willard Roosevelt.
