75mm gunner on medium (Lee and Grant) tanks. Two tours during WWII. First position was as observer under General Montgomery, attached to the English 8th Army in North Africa in the spring of 1942. In the fall of 1942, 5th Armored Division in 85th Reconnaissance. To England in early 1944. Crossed Channel to France after D-Day. Discharged on point system in July 1945. Received Purple Heart, Silver Star, Bronze Star and other medals.
