Basic training in the U.S. Assigned to the 8th Infantry Division Artillery. Graduated from Quartermaster Officer Candidate School (OCS). Assigned to the Air Corps, Sacramento, California. Then to England. Assigned to the 9th Air Force, supporting two P-47 fighter groups for two years. Achieved rank of Captain.
