Spent four and a half years in the Marine Corps; 30 months in the South Pacific with the 22nd Marines which was in the 1st Provisional Brigade and the 6th Marine Division. Saw action in the Marshall Islands as reserve unit during capture of Kwajalein Atoll; was an assault unit in capture of Eniwetok Atoll making 3 assault landings in four days. All told the 22nd Marines made no less than 26 amphibious landings in the Marshall Islands with 1st Provisional Brigade. Participated in capture of Guam on July 1944.
