Served as a Staff Sergeant, a flight and radio operator in the Army Air Corps. Under several commands in the South Pacific and the Philippines. First was under Admiral William C. Halsey and General Millard Harmon as U.S. Armed Forces in South Pacific Area. Then SOPACBACOM (South Pacific Base Command) with General Frederick Gilbreath. Upon transfer to the Philippines, as code name ASCOMO, were under supreme command of General Douglas MacArthur. Next step would have been Japan, had the atom bomb not ended the war.
