Drafted on June 26, 1941. Served as an enlisted man and Non-Commissioned Officer Corporal with the 56th Pursuit Group, 62nd Squadron until March 1942. Joined the Air Corps. Commissioned June 6, 1943 as 2nd Lieutenant. Navigator and Crew Training, Dyersburg, Tennessee. Shipped overseas in August 1943 as replacement crew with the 91st Bomb Group (Heavy), 323rd Squadron. Taken Prisoner on his 11th mission from January 11, 1944 to May 8, 1945. Separated January 7, 1946 at Air Reserve.
