Activity During WWII

Received the Purple Heart, Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters. B-24 Bombardier based in North Africa and flew in 3 mass bombings of Ploesti oil fields. Shot down during the bombing of a ball bearing factory at Wiener Neustadt, Austria. Pilot and 2 crew members survived. His remains were located years later and buried in Belgium.
