Activity During WWII

Served in the U.S. Infantry as a U.S. Reserve Officer. Went to the Philippines April 1941 to train troops and was at Bataan until the surrender under General Wainwright. Taken prisoner by the Japanese. Evacuated by Japanese ship which was sunk while en route to another POW Japanese camp. Posthumously awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct as Headquarters. Commandant and Provost Marshall Visayan-Mindanao Force, Del Monte, Bukidnon, Philippine Islands January to May 1942. Legion of Merit was accepted by his eight-year-old son, Lance.
