Assigned to the 11th Airborne Division, B Battery, 457th Field Artillery -- New Guinea and Southern Philippines (Leyte and Luzon). Performed duties as a jump-master during the airborne operation to retake Corregidor Island. Participated in a combat jump on Tagaytay Ridge as part of the operation to retake Manila. Second combat jump at Aperi. Decorations and citations: Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with 3 battle stars and bronze service arrowhead, Philippine Liberation with 2 bronze stars, 3 overseas service bars, Good Conduct Medal. Awarded Purple Heart for wounds received on Luzon in 1945.
