Pilot of B-17 Flying Fortress and was stationed with the 99th bomb group in Foggia, Italy. After attaching a 10 foot rescue boat under the bomb bay of the B-17, saw combat with the Emergency Rescue on Corsica and the 7th Emergency Rescue in China-Burma-India and Okinawa in the Pacific Theater.
