Fort Sheridan, 1940. Sent to Iceland, 1941. Trained as a Gun Mechanic. 61st Coast Artillery. Sent to Rhineland as Platoon Sergeant, 112th Infantry Sergeant. Fought in the Infantry on Normandy Beach, Germany, France, Iceland and England. Injured at Huertgen Forest. Receive Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Medal, Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman Badge, WWII Victory Medal, American Defense Medal and the Purple Heart. Received Honorable Discharge from Hospital Center, Camp Carson in 1945.
