Activity During WWII

Served in the Air Corps, 8th Air Force, 385th Bomb Group as a top turret gunner and engineer on a B-17 named, 'The Hestatin Hussy'. Shot down on the white cliffs of Dover on August 15, 1943. Spent 11 months in Army hospitals undergoing 7 surgeries. Received the Air medal, Silver Star and the Purple Heart.
