Activity During WWII

Enlisted and left May 19, 1941 for Louisville, Kentucky. Graduated Officers School. Earned Captains bars in the field in Italy under Mark Clark. Stationed at Fort Smith, Arkansas and then Fort Patrick Henry. Orders were to be shipped out on Merchant Marine ship with supplies to Africa. From there to Sicily, Italy. Received the Purple Heart. wounded at Anzio Beachhead. Went on to fight to free Rome, Italy. Returned home after 27 months. Deceased January 9, 2000.
