Activity During WWII

117th Infantry Regiment. Led a group of men through an open field which was under mortar and machine gun fire when three of his men were seriously wounded by the explosion of a land mine. He unhesitatingly retraced his steps into the field and rendered first aid. Received the Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with Silver Star, Bronze Star.
