Activity During WWII

Served in the North African and the Normandy Invasion, on a battleship. After Germans surrendered, ship was transferred to the Pacific. Was a gunner's Mate on a 40mm Anti-Aircraft Machine Gun Battery. Two Japanese planes attacked the ship after midnight, they managed to shoot down the first and the second was set afire, but the pilot managed to crash his plane into the battery killing the entire crew. Three ships searched the area however no one was found. Listed as missing in action and after one year as killed in action.
