Activity During WWII

Served in Rome-Arno Campaign; air offensive Europe; Normandy. After flying 27 missions as bombardier navigator in B-17, he was shot down and taken prisoner of war while bombing the Ploesti Oil Fields in Bucharest, Romania July 4, 1944. Liberated late September 1944. Received European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars; American Defense Ribbon, Purple Heart with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster and Air Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster.
