Activity During WWII

20th Air Force, 47th Fighter Squadron, 15th Fighter Group. Involved in the Pacific Campaign. Enlisted in 1942 and got wings from Luke Air Field near Phoenix, Arizona. Trained in Hawaii in P-47 aircraft and in February of 1945 was involved in the first air strikes of Iwo Jima. Was one of the first pilots to land on Iwo Jima. Part of the first Army Air Corps Fighters, P-51D pilots to fly over Tokyo. Flew B-29 escorts from Iwo Jima to Japan and was involved in the strafing of Iwo Jima and Chichi-Jima. Flight leader, killed in action on July 15, 1945 in Kobe, Japan.
