ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON MARCH 15, 1944 AT FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS. WITH CIVILIAN EXPERIENCE AS A FOREMAN, HE WAS ASSIGNED TO THE CORPS OF ENGINEERS AS A LABOR FOREMAN 356. SERVED IN THE U.S. FOR 1 YEAR AND DEPARTED MARCH 12, 1945 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. SERVED IN COMBAT DURING THE LUZON CAMPAIGN BUILDING CRITICAL ROADS AND BRIDGES AND REPAIRING DAMAGED ROADS AND BUILDINGS AFTER THE VICTORY. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH BRONZE BATTLE STAR, PHILIPPINE LIBERATION MEDAL WITH 1 BRONZE STAR, THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED FROM THE GENERAL ENGINEER DISTRICT AS A TECHNICIAN 4TH GRADE ON APRIL 17, 1946 AT JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MISSOURI.
