Began active duty January 18, 1943. Served in the 15th Air Force as an Armorer Gunner. Battles and Campaigns include Air Offensive Europe and Rome-Arno. Flew on the first mission the B-24 aircraft made. His was one of the first crews to complete their missions and return home. Awarded European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Purple Heart, Distinguished Unit Badge. Honorable Discharge September 21, 1945.
