Attempted to enter all services of the military despite very poor eye sight. Served in the Air Corps. Basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Shipped out October 1942. Earned a Gunnery Sharpshooter medal at Harlingen, Texas. Transferred to Laredo, Texas where he became a Sergeant. Discharged in Rantoul, Illinois, 1945.
