On January 4, 1941 was stationed at Clark Air Base, Philippines. captured and survived the Bataan Death March and prison camps. Sent on cattle boat to Japan; worked in a coal mine in Osaka, Japan. A prisoner of war for 41 months; wounded on Bataan. Received the Purple Heart.
