Served in the 104th Infantry Timber Wolf Division, Battery B, 386th Field Artillery Battalion. He saw combat in Northern France and the Rhineland for which he received 2 battle stars. He hauled ammunition and gasoline to the front lines traveling on the Red Ball Highway. He saw combat as a gunner in Holland, Belgium and Germany. He received an injury while making his way under enemy fire to repair telephone lines between the front lines and Battalion Headquarters.
