Activity During WWII

Participated in the Doolittle Raid on Tokyo, Task Force 16, April 18, 1942 while on the USS Grayson DD-435. Served on the USS Mindoro CVE-120 and USS Franklin D. Roosevelt CVB-42. Participated in the first battle of the Solomon Islands and occupation campaign of Solomon Islands August 7-9, 1942. Participated in engagement with enemy submarine August 25, 1942 in which an enemy submarine was sunk. Participated in engagement with Japanese torpedo planes off San Cristobal Island February 17, 1943. Participated in the following operations: New Georgia Group Operation; Vella Lavella Operation August 15 to October 16, 1943; Night Anti-Barge sweeps September 30 to October 2, 1943; Treasury-Bougainville Operation November 1943; Marshall Island Campaign February 9 to March 8, 1944; Bismarck Archipelago Operation April 3, 1944; New Guinea Operation April 1944; Allied landing at Wake Island May 17, 1944; Biak Island May 27, 1944; Noemfoor Island July 2, 1944.
