Member of crew 48, 713th Squadron, 448th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force who gave his life so that 7 crewmen and many civilians in the village of Falsterbo, Sweden could live when they turned the stricken B-24 'Eager One' bomber back out to sea where it exploded like a volcano, killing him. He was awarded the silver star in 1997.
