Pilot training at University of North Carolina. Early graduation to study under Royal Air Force, England. Then to basic training, Texas. Then, as 1st Lieutenant, assigned to Pacific Theater as fighter pilot, P-38, vicinity Okinawa and Guadalcanal, etc., a total of three years. Advanced to Major with the squadron, 'White Knights.' First leave home, 1945. Silver medal, air medals, and several Distinguished Flying Crosses.
