Activity During WWII

Was in the 2nd Bomb Group, 49th Squadron of B-17s. Was sent to the Pacific in late May of 1942 and returned to duty at Langley Air base for bombardier cadet training. In September 1942 he was sent to England on the first voyage of the Queen Mary; a troop ship to set up location for 8th Air Corps Headquarters north of London. Was sent to Africa to service B-17s from England. Was Lead Bombardier of the 320th Bomb Group. Was a Mission Commander on 12 missions. Returned to the states in March 1944 and was assigned to Galveston, Texas for training as an instructor. Was transferred to Casper, Wyoming as a Bombardier instructor on B-24 bombers.
