Killed in the Father's Day Massacre on Okinawa, 200 yards away from his brother, June 17, 1945. Two weeks prior to this, the brothers were in a foxhole and spoke about 'eating, drinking and being merry,for tomorrow they might die'. He said that if either of them had to die, he wanted it to be him, for his brother had a wife and daughter to care for. His brother didn't see him again until the day he died. After being wounded, he said he wanted his parents to know that he died like a Marine. His body was returned to and buried in Oklahoma.
