Served as motor sergeant and truck master, while assigned to the 27th division in New Caledonia, Guadalcanal and Bougainville. Carried troops in trucks to front lines and back to rest camps. Later transferred to Air Corps where Japanese prisoners were transported by airplane from New Guinea to Townsville, Australia.
