Served 1943 to 1945 in European Theatre; 204th Engineer Combat Battalion, Company A. On March 22, 1945 supported the 5th Infantry Division, the first wave of assault boats to cross the Rhine, Engineers swept the shore and land for mines and prepared sights for landing craft. These notable feats of engineering in the crossing of the Rhine, the Moselle and main rivers is recorded in history as a major contribution to the success of the U.S. Army.
