Activity During WWII

Tail gunner on B-17F. Assigned to the 381st Bombardment Division, Squadron 532 and stationed in Ridgewell, England. He was shot down over Cologne, Germany on August 17, 1943, during the first Schweinfurt run. He injured his hip and spine. He spent 13 months as a POW at Stalag 17B in Krems, Austria. He served from February 28 1942 to May 5, 1945. He received the Purple Heart, Air Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with Bronze Star and the POW Medal.
