Torpedoed three times and lived through it. Brought to New York due to popularity with the men. In charge of the New York foreign fleet and worked with the war shipping administration. Having lost so many merchant marines, there weren't enough men to go around. Her job was to take any man off of any ship and place them on the ship where they were needed.
