Served in the 36th Division. Fought in the Colmar Pocket, taken prisoner and injured. Received the Purple Heart, POW Medal and the Bronze Star. Prisoner of war 10 months. A German saved his life, he was the only non-German in the hospital. Had plastic surgery after the war for 4 years. He was also in a prison camp for 5 months.
