Attached to the National Guard, Yankee Division. Served in the 102nd Field Artillery. Stationed at Fort Sills, Oklahoma as an instructor. Taught short wave radio and equipment repair mechanics. As the war escalated, he was given orders to go to Japan. He was in the Philippines in the midst of his travel orders when the war was declared over in Japan. Continued to serve until the war's final conclusion.
